Ambleside 3 + 4.
Another shot from the banks of Lake Windermere at Ambleside.
First a fairly straight forward mono conversion.
The next one is via Nik Silver’s pinhole function.
I really quite like the effect in this version.

The pinhole version makes your shot like an antique postcard. I think I prefer the solidity of the simple monochrome.
I like them both, but it’s interesting that its the delicate quality of the pinhole version that I like about it. It seems quite ethereal to me.

I really like the quality of the shades in the trees disappearing into the distance.
I hadn’t really looked to closely at that part of the picture, but now you have mentioned it there is almost a picture within a picture. Those woods look quite mysterious:)
